Program purpose statement

The purpose of the Growing Forward 2 Animal Health Biosecurity Delivery Agent Program is to create awareness, educate and train individuals, determine risks and implement mitigations on biosecurity and disease risk management through Delivery Agents (Industry Organizations, Farm Service Providers, Rural Municipalities, Metis Settlements and First Nations) located in Alberta.

Program description

The program provides financial support for the development, adoption or implementation of commodity and operation-specific biosecurity measures and disease risk management strategies. The program provides grants in a cost-shared basis to cover Eligible Expenses for Projects in the following manner:

  • Industry Organizations, Rural Municipalities, Metis Settlements and First Nations: up to 100% of Eligible Expenses per Applicant per fiscal year up to a maximum of $150,000.
  • Farm Service Providers: Eligible Expenses are cost-shared at 50% grant and 50% Applicant up to a maximum of $80,000 per Applicant per fiscal year.

Am I Eligible for this Program?

Delivery Agents (Industry Organizations, Farm Service Providers, Rural Municipalities, Metis Settlements and First Nations) located in Alberta are eligible to apply to the program.

Program Highlights

Projects that might be eligible for funding include:

  • Developing and delivering training programs and materials that increase biosecurity awareness and help with the implementation of on-farm biosecurity practices, disease risk management procedures and emergency preparedness.
  • Promoting biosecurity at producer meetings and trade shows.
  • Monitoring commodity-specific diseases.
  • Provincial adaptation of the commodity-based national biosecurity standards.
  • Consultation with producers, assisting producers with on-farm biosecurity risk assessments and GF2 Animal Health Biosecurity Producer Program applications.
  • Computer equipment or software that supports the implementation of on-farm biosecurity.
  • Other activities as defined in the Growing Forward 2 Animal Health Biosecurity Delivery Agent Program’s Terms and Conditions.
