Program description

This program helps Alberta producers assess, determine, and reduce biosecurity risks for disease in their operations through the implementation of robust biosecurity practices.

The Growing Forward 2 Animal Health Biosecurity Producer Program addresses three important industry priorities:

  1. Meeting industry and marketplace expectations. The program helps agricultural producers implement management practices and infrastructure that reduce on-farm biosecurity risks, thus advancing an important public priority.
  2. Increased agriculture sector stabilization. When Alberta producers meet biosecurity regulations and consumer expectations around food safety and disease prevention and control, the result is a stronger industry.
  3. Improved access to markets. Helping producers implement strong biosecurity risk management practices creates greater opportunities and competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

Biosecurity Risk Assessments

To help you identify Biosecurity gaps in your farm and provide you with ideas on projects that will help you address those gaps and improve biosecurity, the Growing Forward 2 Animal Health Biosecurity Producer Program worked, in partnership with the industry, to develop commodity-specific biosecurity risk assessments.

A biosecurity risk assessment is required as part of the application for funding under the Growing Forward 2 Animal Health Biosecurity Producer Program. Click on the links below to access your specific biosecurity risk assessment.
