Program Description

The purpose of the Agri-Business and Product Development Program is to stimulate new investment in value added food and agri-based processing sectors. This program targets agri-food and agri-based processing companies and producers with innovative, market driven opportunities to commercialize a product, create healthy or healthier products or expand their business.

Program Eligibility

The Agri-Business and Product Development program is targeted at:

Existing Alberta agri-food or agri-based processing companies, who are producing and marketing crop-related and/or meat value-added products.
Alberta producers, producer groups or value chains that use crop or livestock inputs in products that are produced in Alberta.

Projects under this Program shall include some or all of the following activities:

product development;
market research and development;
labeling and packaging development; and
expanding an Agri-Business.

Available Funding

Crop
Eligible Expenses, as approved by the Minister and stated in the grant agreement, may include expenses for:

market research, marketing plans, business studies and feasibility studies;
consulting or business coaching on market research, marketing plans, business studies, feasibility studies and value chain development;
product development;
label and packaging design;
label and packaging development and production for the minimum first run quantity; and
design and production of marketing and promotional materials.
