Food Safety — OFFS (Delivery Agent)

Food Safety, a Growing Forward initiative to facilitate effective risk management.

Program Description

The Food Safety — On-Farm Food Safety (OFFS) program designed to enhance food safety by supporting commodity organizations tasked with delivering to Alberta producers and packers, commodity specific national on-farm food safety programs that have been technically reviewed under the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) lead recognition program or have been developed but not yet technically reviewed.

Program Eligibility

The Food Safety — OFFS program is targeted at the following applicants:

Industry boards, commissions, agencies.
Non-Profit industry organizations.
The applicant must be recognized/authorized by the national commodity association responsible for the delivery of the commodity specific on-farm food safety program that has been technically reviewed under the CFIA led recognition program or has been developed but not yet technically reviewed.
Commodity organizations providing on-going administration and coordination to maintain a commodity specific OFFS program that has been implemented in Alberta are not eligible.

Available Funding

Assistance will be provided to successful applicants on a 70/30, government to industry, cost shared basis up to a maximum of $80,000 annually with a maximum of $3,000 for capital items.

How to Apply

Organizations must submit an application form including a work plan and budget that outlines how they will deliver the on-farm food safety program to producers and packers.
