Leadership Development Grant, a Growing Forward initiative to increase your profitability and strengthen your competitive position.

Program Description

The Leadership Development Grant program is designed to support continuous learning and education opportunities to build leadership skills in the agriculture industry.

The grant will also be made available to industry organizations or third parties whose aim is to develop comprehensive leadership development programs in Alberta.

Appropriate learning events will develop leadership skills, learning and critical industry networks as well as encourage implementation of leadership activities in the Alberta agriculture industry.

Program Eligibility

The Leadership Development Grant program is targeted at:

Individual Applicants
Primary producers in Alberta.
New entrants to the Alberta agriculture industry.
Third Party Applicants
Third party groups developing a comprehensive leadership development program that aligns with the purpose of the Leadership Development Grant.

Available Funding

Individual Applicants
Assistance will be on a cost shared basis. When individuals are the sole beneficiaries, Government will pay 100 percent of the cost of registration and the applicant will be responsible for travel and accommodation. A minimum of $2,000 to a maximum of $12,000 per applicant per year will be considered.
Third Party Applicants
Third party applicants developing a leadership program that will benefit the agriculture industry may be eligible for assistance on a cost shared basis of up to 90/10 government and the applicant. Maximums will apply.

Individual Applicants

You must first complete and submit a work plan before funds will be made available. To begin complete an application form – PDF on line, or contact ARD Specialists. To find out more about the program or to be put in touch with an ARD specialist contact the Ag-Info Centre at 310-FARM. Applications will be reviewed on the last Wednesday of each month.

Third Party Applicants
