Program Description

The Livestock Welfare program will allocate funds for non-profit organizations to work towards system assessment and adoption of programs that result in improved livestock welfare on-farm, during transportation and at slaughter. Programs will be aligned with national/international programs and standards.

Program Eligibility

The livestock welfare program is targeted at industry associations, boards, societies, commissions or agencies in the province of Alberta that are both non-profit and represent animal producers/caretakers /transporters/processors.

Available Funding

Funding will be on a cost shared basis of 50/50 (government/ applicant) for non-capital items.
Maximum funding for each applicant is $300,000 per year.
